Description
This very good First English edition set contains a printed Presentation note laid-into Volume I: “With all good wishes from Winston S. Churchill.” These presentation notes were printed by his office.
The dust jackets are unclipped but somewhat age-darkened and edge-chipped, with fractional losses at the head and tail of each spine and across the upper edges of the rear faces. There is also a rub resulting in loss of approximately one-inch on the lower left portion of the rear face of Volume II, some faint staining to the front face and uneven toning along the spine. The books are in very good condition, the bindings crisp and tight, the contents virtually unfoxed.
Churchill favored greatly the beautiful design of this edition. The set is quite scarce today.

Collector's Guide
The War Speeches (“Definitive Edition”) repackaged the texts of the original seven, individually-published, wartime volumes of Churchill’s war speeches as a very handsomely produced three-volume set. While “Definitive,” this set was not entirely complete; a handful of speeches deemed to be of “reduced significance” were omitted. Churchill favored greatly the beautiful design of this edition.
