MOVING CHURCHILL #6: What Do You Think?
We turn to you now for some guidance. A few very different potential properties are in our sights for our move. As yet, no clear favorite. Each location presents its own advantages and disadvantages.
We’d like to know what you think.
>If we move to the Westside of Manhattan, would you follow us west? We are definitely now looking in that direction, as rents in Midtown East are stubbornly high.
>If we move to the second floor of a townhouse, would you follow us up a long flight of steps? Inviting locations are presenting themselves, upstairs.
>How about two flights of stairs?
Please let us know.
Meanwhile, our impending move Sale continues.

Move #6
HOE FARM

In the summer of 1915, Winston Churchill rented for his family a secluded Tudor farmhouse in Surrey called “Hoe Farm,” where he retreated for long weekends romping with his and brother Jack’s young children. It was here that he first took up a paintbrush, inspired by Jack’s wife, Gwendolyn (“Goonie”). “How I wish you could be there,” he wrote to Jack, who was then serving at Gallipoli. “It really is a delightful valley and the garden gleams with summer jewelry. We live very simply — but with all the essentials of life well understood and provided for — hot baths, cold champagne, new peas & old brandy.”
More to come.
With our thanks and best wishes,
