It is at once a memoir and a journal of discovery, filled with the many marvels of Sir Martin’s research method revealed.

IN SEARCH OF CHURCHILL is one of the only Martin Gilbert books published during the store’s lifetime that we did not celebrate with a publishing party because Sir Martin, at that time, was already curtailing his travel schedule due to heart issues. We sadly lost Sir Martin Gilbert, one of Chartwell Booksellers’ greatest friends and an inspiration to the store always, in 2015.
