Description
This is a very good First American edition set of Main Volumes, in dust jackets that are here and there lightly edge-chipped but virtually unfaded, save for the traditionally fade-prone spines of Volume III and IV. Volume IV jacket is also unevenly faded on both faces. Volumes I-IV and VI jackets are neatly price-clipped, the others are unclipped. The contents of all volumes are fine, with a former-owner name inked on the front free endpaper of Volume I. There is faint foxing to the upper fore-edge of Volume IV and more significant foxing to all fore-edges of Volume V. Volume V is a Review Copy with the publisher’s slip laid-in. There is a faint paper clip shadow on the dust jacket as a result. Volume VII has a register of page numbers inked on the front free endpaper and two roughly trimmed interior pages, else fine. Laid-into Volume VI is a news-cutting of the review for this volume from the Chicago Tribune. A very attractive and rather interesting set overall
