Description
A mint First English edition set of Volume VI COMPANION Volumes – “The Churchill War Papers” in unclipped dust jackets, signed in each volume. This was the last set of Companion volumes issued uniform with the First Edition of the Official Biography.
Volume I is signed with a lengthy ink presentation inscription on the title page: “To — with the author’s warmest regards and all good wishes, Martin. Washington. 8th November 1993.”
Volume II is signed with a lengthy ink presentation inscription on the title page: “To — who lunched with me before (hopefully) Volume III went to the printer. With warm regards, as ever, Martin. Boston. 13th November 1997.”
Volume III is simply signed in ink: “Martin Gilbert” on the title page.
