Description

This is a very good copy of the First American edition without dust jacket, inscribed and signed on the front endpaper: “For — With the compliments and best wishes of his friend, the author, April 22nd, 1920.”

The boards are lightly shelfworn, the corners and spine head and tail are a touch frayed and there is a front hinge break. The contents are clean and crisp.

The book surveys the experiences of an American Reserve officer traveling in Europe when the war broke out; he accepted a temporary diplomatic position helping repatriate Americans, which took him to Germany, Russia, France, Belgium, 1914-16.
