Description
This original drawing by the legendary cartoon-contraptionist Rube Goldberg is a marvelous caricature from Goldberg’s long-term stint as a political cartoonist for The New York Journal American. Goldberg won a Pulitzer Prize as a political cartoonist in 1948. Here he views Churchill and Eisenhower, the two old wartime compatriots, through their shared love of painting, as they re-encounter one another as, respectively, Prime Minister of Great Britain (for a second time) and President of the United States (for the first time). Executed in ink and charcoal on illustration board, with extensive printer’s notes in pencil at the bottom, the drawing (10 1/2 x 12 inches) is in excellent condition; archivally matted and elegantly framed (21 x 25 inches overall).
