Description

This original cartoon from the British humor magazine Punch, dated November 11, 1925, is in very good condition. The caption reads:
“Mr. Winston Churchill. ‘I’m afraid I can’t give you any pecuniary assistance; but I’ll do this for you – I’ll give you leave to lend your superfluous capital to anybody you like.’ British Taxpayer. ‘Thank you very much.’ [Collapses in an ecstasy of gratitude.] [The Chancellor of the Exchequer has removed the embargo on the issue of Foreign Loans.]”
It was drawn by the noted political cartoonist, L. Raven-Hill, who also illustrated STALKY AND CO. for Rudyard Kipling and KIPPS for H.G. Wells.
