A beautiful volume from illustrator Alan James Robinson’s exquisite fine press, the text taken from Chapter XXIII of “PSEUDODOXIA EPIDEMICA or Enquiries into very many received Tenents and commonly presumed truths,” written by Sir Thomas Browne in 1646.
This is the Deluxe Edition, number 33 of 60 copies SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page, the book bound in quarter vellum over handmade paper-covered boards, with a frontispiece lithographed portrait of Browne and an extra suite of Robinson’s 16 wood engravings laid in a chemise within a full-linen-covered tray-case.
