Marlborough is Winston Churchill’s majestic biography of John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough; soldier, statesmen, hard-headed Churchillian ancestor. Initially published in England as a lush four-volume set and then as a somewhat less deluxe six-volume set in America, it was subsequently issued in an unabridged two-volume edition and a single-volume abridgment.
Description
This is a First Edition of the two-volume English reprint edition, first published in 1947. The pages were photo-lithographed from the original first edition text, compressed and printed on thinner paper, but left unabridged. It is a lovely set, here in unclipped dust jackets. Book Two jacket has darkened a bit, else fine. The contents are similarly fine, with just a hint flap shadow to the front free endpaper of Book One.
A beautiful way to read Churchill’s magnum biographical opus.
