Collector's Guide

Lord Randolph Churchill was Winston Churchill’s first work of biography and an impassioned two-volume defense of his maligned father’s posthumous reputation. It was subsequently issued in an unabridged one-volume edition and is a bulwark of any Churchill collection.

Description

This is a very good First American edition set. Generally regarded as aesthetically superior to the English edition, the red cloth here retains strong color, though the spines have very faintly darkened, with the Volume I spine just a bit concave and lightly fraying at the head and tail. The gilt titles and gilded top edges are bright. There is a neatly repaired front hinge break in Volume II. Both volumes have a date inked on their front free endpapers, the contents of both are otherwise fine, clean and unfoxed.
