Description

The only published transcript of “Philipot’s Roll,” the original of which lies in the East Sussex Record Office. As Somerset Herald, Philipot in 1627 presented to his patron, George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham, a list of the 75 Constables and Lord Wardens, with brief biographical details and their arms richly emblazoned. This is a very good copy in every respect of a handsome facsimile reproduction, virtually mint, save for some toning to the endpapers. Churchill’s brief Foreword appears as a reproduced letter on the Prime Minister’s Downing Street letterhead.
