Collector's Guide
Great Contemporaries comprises twenty-one penetrating profiles of political and literary luminaries. An utter delight to read, beautifully written and brutally opinionated (Hitler comes off just a bit better than George Bernard Shaw), the ensuing “Revised” edition (and most future reprints) added four new profiles: Lord Fisher, Charles Stewart Parnell, Lord Baden-Powell and President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Description
Odhams Press, England’s top mail order publisher, regularly reprinted after the war four basic Churchill titles (MY EARLY LIFE, THOUGHTS AND ADVENTURES, GREAT CONTEMPORARIES and STEP BY STEP) in two different dust jacketed binding styles: “Standard” (bright red cloth blocked gilt and black on the top board and spine, with unstained page edges), and “Deluxe” (red leatherette with black leather spine labels and page edges stained red).
This is a very good First Edition copy of the Standard binding, in a fine dust jacket. The contents too are fine.
