Description

This original admission card to the Press Gallery for Winston Churchill’s address to a Joint Session of Congress as Prime Minister on January 17, 1952 is here framed with an original press photograph of the occasion. The card measures 3 x 4 inches and is in virtually mint condition, blank on the verso, with a pencil notation at the front top: “Winston Churchill & Joint Session.”

The typed paper caption from the photograph verso, dated January 17, 1952, is matted here as well. It reads: “Prime Minster Winston Churchill speaks to a joint session of Congress in the House Chamber Jan. 17. Senators, Congressmen and Cabinet Officers are seated in foreground. Press (above clock) and public galleries are filled.”

The black & white gelatin print photograph measures 7 3/4 x 9 1/4 inches, and is in very good condition, with some faintly visible scratches and creases at the corners, else fine. It has been gorgeously framed in a golden metalic face (15 1/2 x 22 inches overall).
