Description

A mint copy of this gorgeous leatherbound facsimile edition of the 94-notebook kept by Winston Churchill’s private secretary, Edward Marsh (a literary patron and muse of his time), containing signed holograph verses that he solicited from luminaries of the Edwardian & Georgian era, including Rupert Brooke, Thomas Hardy, Siegfried Sassoon, W.B. Yeats and T.E. Lawrence.
The main volume has a frontis color reproduction of a watercolour by Lady Diana (Manners)Cooper, to whom Marsh presented the original notebook. The introduction is by her son, John Julius Norwich. A second identically-bound 48-page volume contains explanatory notes. Bound in quarter-calf over green paper-covered boards, and preserved in a cloth slipcase with printed paper spine label, as issued by Eton College in 1990. Number 30 of 600 numbered copies.
