Description

A very good copy of this legendary fine press book produced by the Grabhhorn Press for Ransohoffs department store of San Francisco in a limited edition of of 250 copies in 1941. The folio-sized volume reprints with exquisite typography six essential Churchill speeches of the war, broadcast on December 23, 1940; February 9, 1941; April 27, 1941; May 3, 1941; June 22, 1941; and August 24, 1941.

The cloth here is fresh, with a small splash mark and a scratch on the rear board. The binding is tight and the blue-grey leather spine label is still bright. The contents are fine, with a hint of toning to the endpapers. The original plasticine and blue paper wrapper is present, with some tears and yellowing tape reinforcement. We have chosen not to photograph it because it is not especially attractive and it is the book that matters. Photos are, of course, available upon request.

A historic publishing achievement.
