Description

A virtually mint copy of this rare and extremely handsome fine press edition; the fourth published version of Churchill’s heralded speech, but its first appearance as a non-pamphlet, and by far the most deluxe. Printed by letterpress and bound in black paper-covered boards, with a red paper front label stamped in gilt, the volume also contains the text (and first volume appearance) of Churchill’s address to the House of Commons on 8 June 1943.

This is a very good copy, with the original, rare glassine jacket present, heavily browned and chipped but entirely intact. The upper left corner of the front board is a bit crunched, and the boards are a bit bowed, as per usual with this volume. The contents are fine, with page edges very faintly browned, light toning to front and rear pastedowns, and a discreet ownership stamp on front free endpaper. Ese fine.
