Description

A very good copy of this rare and extremely handsome fine press edition; the fourth published version of Churchill’s heralded speech but its first appearance as a non-pamphlet, and by far the most deluxe. Printed by letterpress and bound in black paper-covered boards, with a red paper front label stamped in gilt. Also contains the text (and first volume appearance) of Churchill’s address to the House of Commons on June 8, 1943.

This is a very good presentation copy, without the original glassine jacket, but with a presentation label on the front pastedown from Frank Altschul, the financier founder of the Overbrook Press: With the compliments of Frank Altschul – The Overbrook Press, Stamford – Connecticut.

There are some very faint splatters on the rear cover, and the front and rear free endpapers and pastedowns are toned. The contents are otherwise fine and unfoxed.
