Though this is Churchill’s copy, the bookplates of his son Randolph Churchill are affixed to the front and rear pastedowns. According to official biographer Sir Martin Gilbert, Randolph Churchill added these bookplates to all of his father’s books immediately after Winston Churchill’s death in 1965.

The book itself is the memoir of a distinguished British military officer and former-Governor of South Australia. In his his charming Foreword, Churchill, who recalls first encountering the author during the Boer War in South Africa. This is a very good copy of the Second Printing of the First English edition, without dust jacket. The cloth has faded just a touch. The contents are fine.
