Description

A very good copy of this legendary fine press book produced by the Grabhhorn Press for Ransohoffs department store of San Francisco in a limited edition of of 250 copies in 1940. The large, folio-sized volume reprints with exquisite typography seven essential Churchill war speeches from the first year of his Prime Ministership, including “Blood Toil Tears and Sweat” and “The Few,” as well as his speeches to the House of Commons on May 13 (excerpts), May 19, June 18, August 20, September 11, and October 8, plus Churchill’s broadcast speech of October 21 to the French nation.

The cloth here is fresh, with crunched upper corners. The red leather spine label is a bit faded but still bright. The contents are fine, but the front hinge is beginning to give. The original plasticine wrapper is absent.

A historic publishing achievement.
