Description
“Memoirs of Baron Ompteda, Colonel in the King’s German Legion, 26th November, 1765, to 18th June, 1815.” Fought in the Netherlands, 1793-95; Copenhagen, 1807; and from Portugal to Waterloo. Sustained many wounds and several captures. This book is much prized and quite rare. A very good copy, as issued without dust jacket. Corners a bit frayed, spine slightly split at head & tail and faded at tail, edges slightly bumped, rear cover has a few light scrapes, front hinge cracked, rear hinge weak, binding delicate, frontispiece detached, owner’s name in pencil on reverse of front free end paper, slight browning in margins throughout, but the gilt cover is still bright and the text is clean & crisp.
