MOVING CHURCHILL
Winston Churchill moved at least 20 times in his grownup lifetime. Chartwell Booksellers, on the other hand, has never moved, occupying the same address for all of our 43-years of life.
Until now…
In the wake of too many lobby obstructions here at Park Avenue Plaza, our landlord has now informed us that they are planning to demolish entirely the arcade that we have occupied for 43 years to make way for… something.
And so, we will be moving to new premises before the end of this year.
Shocked, we are, but not altogether surprised. Our hopes are to find a new space large enough to bring much of our hand-carved oak bookcase interior with us.
In the meantime, we are going to have a sale — the first in our history — to divest stock that we cannot possibly carry away. We will be offering special books to you, our long-standing friends, every week, at very special discounts.
BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE WRITINGS OF SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL
By Ronald I. Cohen
$1,000 / $500
This three-volume set is the definitive accounting of Churchill’s writings.
The entire worldwide print run was 400 copies, of which Chartwell Booksellers acquired the majority at publication. Thus, we sell only mint sets, still in the publisher’s original shrink-wrap and unopened shipping carton.
Every Churchill reader should own the Cohen Churchill Bibliography.
In honor of our pending move, we are sharing it with you at half-price.
MOVING CHURCHILL
We will also share updates as we have them.
Plus many more special sale books, weekly.
(We will also share each of Winston Churchill’s moves. One-by-one.
Just for the record.)

105 MOUNT STREET

In August 1900, after returning from South Africa, 25-year-old Winston Churchill moved into his first London bachelor flat, at 105 Mount Street, just a short walk from Grosvenor Square.
More to come.
With our thanks and best wishes,
Chartwell Booksellers
