"THE GREYHOUND DIARY" BY JUDY MONTAGU

Clementine Churchill was a close friend to her cousin Venetia Stanley, who, while in her 20’s, famously became the obsessive object of Prime Minister H.H. Asquith’s epistolary adoration during the opening years of the First World War.

It was Venetia Stanley’s daughter, Judith Montagu, who brought “a laundry basket full of” these Asquith letters to a stunned Sir Martin Gilbert, during his work on Winston Churchill’s official biography. And it is this very same Judy Montagu, who wrote a sharp-eyed memoir of her own raucous 1949 roadtrip through America by bus (including a brief romance with Adlai Stevenson while he was governor of Illinois) that has just been published here as THE GREYHOUND DIARY, edited by Ms. Montagu’s daughter, Anna Mathias.

Join us MONDAY, JANUARY 12, from 1:00-2:00 PM., and meet Anna Mathias, while buying a copy of THE GREYHOUND DIARY or order your signed First Edition HERE.

Judy Montagu was really quite a vivid writer, as well as a close friend of Princess Margaret. THE GREYHOUND DIARY is an unexpected find.
