Savrola was Winston Churchill’s first and only novel; a statement of personal and political philosophy delivered as a work of dystopian fiction about dictatorship (with an astonishing relevance to our own dire present moment in time). U.S. publication preceded the British issue by roughly ten days, rendering the American first edition the true first.

Description

This is a very good copy of the Second American Edition, in a dust jacket that is a touch darkened with age and modestly edgeworn, with fractional loss at the spine head. Contents fine.
Winston Churchill’s only novel, SAVROLA — originally published in 1900 — was broadcast on November 15, 1956 as a one-hour teleplay, live and in color, on NBC’s Matinee Theater, starring Churchill’s daughter, Sarah. A Random House reissue that year no doubt coincided with the broadcast.
