Description
This legendary portrait of the Prime Minister was taken by Cecil Beaton in the Cabinet Room at 10 Downing Street on 20 November 1940, in the wake of the worst of the Battle of Britain but with The Blitz still brutally underway. A lengthy headline reads:
“WE WILL FINISH THE JOB. We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. GIVE US THE TOOLS AND WE WILL FINISH THE JOB.’–Mr. Churchill’s reply to Mr. Roosevelt.”
The postcard is in very good condition, unused on the verso.
