Description: This is a very good copy of the First edition, without dust jacket. Save for some fraying to the cloth at the spine head and faint rubbing at the tail, the book is virtually mint. It is SIGNED and inscribed by the author to Robert Kriendler, owner of the 21 Club, at whose bar Benchley spent much of his adult life in New York.

To the Gluyas Williams caricature of himself printed across the front free endpaper and pastedown, Benchley has added a thought bubble that reads: "One load of Benchley for Bob Kriendler. Gangway!" then signed and dated it: "Bob Benchley, Jan. 20, 1939."
